How do I use shortcuts in Illustrator?

Shortcuts in Illustrator can be a great time-saver. There are a few key shortcuts that are especially handy for certain tasks.

One shortcut you’ll often use is the Command key (Mac: Control key) and the spacebar. This combination will activate the shortcut menu, which contains a variety of commands that can be used to change attributes of objects or perform other tasks.

PRO TIP: Shortcuts are a great way to speed up your workflow in Illustrator, but they can also be a little tricky to master. Here are a few things to keep in mind when using shortcuts:

1. Make sure you know the shortcut key commands for the actions you want to perform. You can find a complete list of shortcut keys in the Help menu.

2. Take your time to learn the shortcuts that are most important to you. There’s no need to try and memorize all of them at once.

3. Be careful when using shortcuts that involve moving or resizing objects. It’s easy to accidentally nudge an object out of place when you’re trying to move it with a shortcut key.

4. Keep an eye on your keyboard when you’re using shortcuts, especially if you’re new to them. It’s easy to hit the wrong key and end up performing an unintended action.

Another useful shortcut is the “Z” key. When you press “Z” while an object is selected, Illustrator will zoom in on the object so that you can more easily edit it.

One final shortcut that is often useful is the “Ctrl+A” (Mac: Command+A) shortcut. This will select all objects in the document.
