Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 8:53 pm

Adding a background in Photoshop is a fairly simple process. First, open up your image in Photoshop. Next, click on the “Layer” menu at the top of the screen and select “New Layer.” A new layer will appear in your document.

Now, click on the “Background” layer in the Layers palette and select the “Gradient Tool” from the Tools palette. With the Gradient Tool selected, click and drag from the top left corner of your image to the bottom right corner. A gradient will appear in your image.

If you want to change the colors of your gradient, simply double-click on the gradient in the Layers palette. This will bring up the “Gradient Editor” dialog box. From here, you can select different colors for your gradient.

Once you have your gradient how you want it, simply click on the “OK” button and you will see your new background in place!

PRO TIP: Warning: Adding a background on Photoshop can be tricky. Make sure you have a solid understanding of the program before attempting this. Otherwise, you may end up with an unwanted background or an incorrect image.

Adding a background in Photoshop is quick and easy! Simply open up your image, create a new layer, and then use the Gradient Tool to create a beautiful background.
