Plastic wrap is one of the most versatile tools in Photoshop. You can use it to create textured backgrounds, add depth to images, or even create your own custom patterns. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to do plastic wrap in Photoshop.

First, open up your image in Photoshop. We’re using a photo of a flower for this tutorial, but you can use any image you like. Next, create a new layer by clicking on the “Create a new layer” icon at the bottom of the Layers panel.

Now we’re going to add some noise to this layer. Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise.

In the Add Noise dialog box, set the Amount to 100%, Distribution to Uniform, and check the Monochromatic option. Click OK to add the noise.

PRO TIP: This article offers techniques for plastic wrap in Photoshop and is intended for intermediate to advanced users. If you are not familiar with Photoshop, or are a beginner, please be aware that plastic wrap is a complex technique that requires a good understanding of the software. Use these techniques at your own risk.

Next, we’re going to apply a Gaussian Blur to this layer. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. In the Gaussian Blur dialog box, set the Radius to 5 pixels and click OK.

Now we need to apply a Plastic Wrap filter to our noise layer. Go to Filter > Distort > Plastic Wrap.

In the Plastic Wrap dialog box, set the highlights value to 50 and the detail value to 10. Click OK to apply the filter.

You should now have a plastic wrap effect applied to your image! If you want to adjust the amount of plastic wrap, simply go back into the Plastic Wrap dialog box and adjust the highlights and detail values until you’re happy with the results. When you’re finished, click OK to apply the changes.
