How Do You Make a 3d Ring in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 3:42 pm

There are many ways to create three-dimensional (3D) rings in Photoshop, but one method that is particularly easy and effective is to use the “Extrude” tool. With this tool, you can take a two-dimensional (2D) shape and give it depth and dimension. In this article, we’ll show you how to use the “Extrude” tool to create a 3D ring in Photoshop.

First, open Photoshop and create a new document. Then, using the “Ellipse Tool”, draw a circle. It doesn’t have to be perfect, as we can adjust the shape later. Once you have your circle, go to “Edit > Define Custom Shape.” This will allow us to save our circle as a custom shape that we can use again in the future. Give your custom shape a name and click “OK.”

Now that we have our custom shape, we can begin creating our 3D ring.

First, create a new layer by going to “Layer > New > Layer.” Then, select the “Custom Shape Tool” from the toolbar on the left. In the options bar at the top of the screen, select your newly created custom shape from the “Shape” drop-down menu. Now simply click and drag on your canvas to create a circle using your custom shape.

PRO TIP: This tutorial is outdated and no longer accurate. It may not produce the desired results in Photoshop.

With our 2D circle in place, we can now give it some depth with the “Extrude” tool. Go to “Filter > 3D > Extrude.” In the resulting dialog box, enter the amount of depth you want to give your ring. You can also adjust the bevel options to further customize the look of your ring. When you’re happy with your settings, click “OK.”

And there you have it! A simple yet effective 3D ring, created entirely in Photoshop.

The Extrude tool is an easy way to create 3D rings in Photoshop. Simply draw a circle with the Ellipse Tool, save it as a custom shape, and then use the Custom Shape Tool and Extrude filter to give it depth and dimension.
