Google Analytics is a free service that allows website owners to track their site’s traffic and performance. Setting up Google Analytics on Shopify is a simple process that can be completed in just a few minutes.

To setup Google Analytics on your Shopify store, you’ll need to create a Google Analytics account and then add your tracking code to your Shopify theme.

Creating a Google Analytics account is free and only takes a few minutes. Simply head to the Google Analytics website and sign up for an account. Once you have an account, you’ll be given a tracking code which you’ll need to add to your Shopify theme.

Adding your tracking code to your Shopify theme is simple and only requires a few lines of code. First, login to your Shopify admin and go to Online Store > Themes.

Find the theme you want to edit and click on the Edit HTML/CSS button. In the Layout folder, look for the theme.liquid file and open it.

Once you have the theme.liquid file open, locate the section of code and paste your tracking code just below it. Save your changes and you’re done! Your tracking code will now be active and start collecting data about your store’s traffic and performance.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to setup Google Analytics on your Shopify account, please be aware that there are a few potential risks involved.

1. If you are not familiar with code, or do not feel comfortable working with code, please seek out assistance from someone who does. Making a mistake in the code could result in tracking errors on your site, and could cause issues with your Shopify account.

2. There is a potential for data loss when installing Google Analytics. Make sure to backup your data before proceeding, just in case something goes wrong.

3. Be sure to read through all the instructions carefully before beginning the setup process. Failure to do so could result in an incorrect installation, and could cause problems with tracking on your site.

Google Analytics is a powerful tool that can help you track your store’s traffic and performance. Setting it up is quick and easy, so there’s no excuse not to get it done!
