How do you shade a face in Illustrator?

Shading a face in Illustrator can be done in a few different ways. The first is to use the Pen tool and draw in the shadows on the face. The second is to use the Gradient tool and create a gradient to darken the shadows. The third is to use the Blur tool and soften the shadows. The fourth is to use the Solid fill tool and add a solid color to the shadows. The fifth is to use the Linear Gradient tool and create a linear gradient to lighten the shadows.

PRO TIP: When shading a face in Illustrator, be sure to use a light hand. If you press too hard with the pencil tool, you can easily darken the line work and make the face look muddy.

The sixth is to use the Add Noise tool and add random noise to the shadows. The seventh is to use the Pattern tool and create a pattern of shadows. The eighth is to use the Bevel and Emboss tools and create bevels and embosses in the shadows. The ninth is to use the Inner Glow tool and add an inner glow to the shadows. The tenth is to use the Opacity slider and control the opacity of the shadows. The final step is to blend the shadows into the face using the blend tool.
