If you’re working in Illustrator and need to type special characters, there are a few things you can do.

First, you can use the Character panel. This panel can be found in the Window > Character panel menu.

Here, you can access a list of all the special characters available in Illustrator.

PRO TIP: Some special characters can be typed in Illustrator by using the Glyphs panel. However, not all special characters can be typed in Illustrator. Be sure to check the list of supported characters before trying to type a special character in Illustrator.

To type a special character, simply select it from the list and then use the keyboard shortcut (Mac: Command + U; Windows: Ctrl + U) to enter it.

If you need to type a character multiple times, you can use the shortcut (Mac: Command + J; Windows: Ctrl + J) to cycle through the available special characters.

Finally, you can also use the shortcut (Mac: Command + K; Windows: Ctrl + K) to insert a character at the current cursor position.
