How Do You Unfulfill Orders on Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 7:42 pm

When you receive an order on Shopify, you have two options: fulfill it yourself, or have Shopify automatically fulfill it for you. If you choose to fulfill it yourself, you can do so either through the Shopify admin or through the Shopify app.

To fulfill an order through the Shopify admin:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Orders. 2. Click the order that you want to fulfill. 3. From the Order details page, click Fulfill items.

4. Enter the quantity of each item that you want to fulfill in the Qty to fulfill field. 5. If you want to fulfill all of the items in the order, click Auto-fill all items. Otherwise, enter the quantity of each item that you want to fulfill in the Qty to fulfill field. 6. When you’re finished, click Fulfill items.

To have Shopify automatically fulfill your orders:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.

In the Order processing section, select Automatically fulfill orders placed through Shopify Payments and any other payment gateway that supports automatic fulfillment from the drop-down menu. Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.”

PRO TIP: If you are planning to unfulfill orders on Shopify, please be aware that this may result in your customers not receiving their order. Additionally, this may also cause issues with your shop’s performance and reputation.

If you’re using Shopify Payments or another payment gateway that supports automatic fulfillment, then your orders will be automatically fulfilled as soon as they’re paid for. Otherwise, you’ll need to manually fulfill your orders through the Shopify admin or app.
