Is There a Photoshop Detector?

It’s no secret that many photos we see online have been edited using Photoshop. In fact, it’s become so common that some people can spot a “Photoshopped” photo almost immediately. But is there really such a thing as a Photoshop detector?

PRO TIP: This note is to warn you about the Photoshop Detector. This tool is not 100% accurate and should not be used as your only method for detecting Photoshop use. There are other ways to detect Photoshop use, such as looking at the image file size, checking for unnatural looking patterns, and using Reverse Image Search.

There are certain tell-tale signs that may indicate a photo has been edited, such as unrealistic colors, unusual lighting, or strange proportions. However, it can be difficult to determine whether a photo has been edited just by looking at it. And even if you could tell that a photo has been Photoshopped, it would be nearly impossible to know how extensive the edits were.

So while there’s no sure-fire way to detect whether a photo has been edited with Photoshop, there are some things to look out for that may give you an indication. If you’re ever in doubt, though, the best bet is to ask the person who posted the photo if it has been edited.
