The Slice tool in Figma is an easy way to quickly crop out sections of an image. It’s a great way to remove background images or elements that you don’t need.

You can also use the Slice tool to make custom shapes from images.

To use the Slice tool, first select the image you want to crop. Then, click on the “Slice” tool in the toolbar.

You’ll see a grid appear over your image. You can click and drag to select the area you want to crop. Once you’ve selected the area you want, you can release the mouse button and the image will be cropped.

PRO TIP: The Slice Tool in Figma can be used to quickly create Slices, which are areas that you can export as individual images. However, if you’re not careful, you can accidentally create slices that are too small or too large.

If you want to make a custom shape from an image, you can use the Slice tool to do that as well. First, select the image you want to use. Then, click on the “Slice” tool in the toolbar and click on the “Create Shape” option. You can click and drag to select the area you want to create a shape from. Once you’ve selected the area you want, you can release the mouse button and your custom shape will be created.

The Slice tool is a great way to quickly crop out sections of an image or create custom shapes from images. Give it a try next time you’re working with images in Figma!
