What is a dieline in Illustrator?

A dieline is a type of line that can be used to create smooth curves and angled lines. It is a vector-based line type that can be edited in Illustrator.

PRO TIP: Dielines are used to indicate where a fold, cut, or score should be made on a physical product. They are important to consider when creating packaging designs, as they will determine the final shape of the product. Make sure to allow for enough clearance around the dieline so that the cut or fold can be made accurately.

When you create a dieline, Illustrator creates a curve that follows the path of the dieline. You can then use the Direct Selection tool to edit the curve.
