Why Does It Say Script Disabled on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 6, 2022 @ 3:59 pm

If you’ve ever tried to add custom code in a code block to your Squarespace site, you may have noticed that a warning message pops up saying “script disabled.” So why does it say that, and what can you do about it?

The answer has to do with Squarespace’s security features. Because custom code can be used to insert malicious code onto a site, Squarespace has to disable it by default. However, there is a way to enable it if you need to.

PRO TIP: If you see the message “Script Disabled” on your Squarespace site, it means that a plugin or custom code is no longer working due to a recent change on our platform. To fix this, you’ll need to update your code.

To do so, you’ll need to go into your site’s settings.

The next step is to enter your “Advanced” settings.

From there, select “Code Injection”.

Now, add your code and click on save.

Once you’ve done that, your code will be up and running on your site without any problems.

So if you’re wondering why it says “script disabled” on Squarespace, now you know. And if you need to add custom code to your Squarespace site, simply go to the “Code Injection” option in your advanced settings.
