Why Won’t My Lighting Effects Work in Photoshop?

If you’re having trouble getting your lighting effects to work in Photoshop, there are a few things you can check. First, make sure that you’re using the correct layer. Lighting effects will only work on layers that contain pixels-you can’t apply them to Background layers, for example. Also, make sure that the layer you’re trying to apply the effect to is not locked or hidden.

If it is, unlock it or unhide it by clicking the appropriate button in the Layers panel. Finally, make sure that the layer isn’t set to a blending mode that doesn’t allow lighting effects-the most common ones are Darken, Lighten, and Difference.

If you’ve checked all of those things and your lighting effects still aren’t working, there are a few other things you can try. One is to rasterize the layer you’re trying to apply the effect to. To do this, go to the Layer menu and choose Rasterize > Layer. Another thing you can try is merging the layer you’re trying to apply the effect to with another layer.

To do this, go to the Layer menu and choose Merge Layers. Or, you could try flattening your image-go to the Layer menu and choose Flatten Image.

If none of those things work, it’s possible that your Photoshop file is corrupted. Try opening a new file and then copying and pasting the contents of your old file into the new one.

If that doesn’t work, try restarting Photoshop. If none of these things work, then you may need to reinstall Photoshop.

PRO TIP: If you’re having trouble getting your lighting effects to work in Photoshop, there are a few things you can try. First, make sure that you’re using the correct layer – lighting effects won’t work on background layers. Second, check the layer’s opacity and blend mode – both should be set to 100% and Normal, respectively. Finally, try increasing the size of your light source; if it’s too small, the effect may not be visible.
