Why Won’t Photoshop Open My PSD File?

There are a number of reasons why Photoshop may not be opening your PSD file. One possibility is that the file is damaged or corrupt. If this is the case, you may be able to open the file in another program such as GIMP or Paint.net. Another possibility is that you do not have the correct version of Photoshop installed on your computer.

Photoshop CS5, for example, cannot open files created in Photoshop CC. Finally, it’s also possible that your PSD file has become associated with another program and needs to be opened with that program.
