You can add CAPTCHA to your Squarespace site to help protect it from spam and other automated abuse. To do this, you’ll need to install a third-party CAPTCHA service onto your site.
There are a few different CAPTCHA services available, but we recommend using reCAPTCHA. It’s free to use, and it’s effective at stopping spam.
To install reCAPTCHA on your Squarespace site:
-
Go to the reCAPTCHA site and sign up for an account.
-
Follow the instructions on the site to create a new site. Be sure to select the “reCAPTCHA v2” option.
-
Once you’ve created your account, you’ll be given a Site key and a Secret key. Copy these keys and keep them safe.
PRO TIP: WARNING:
Adding a CAPTCHA to your Squarespace website can be tricky and may not work as expected. If you’re not familiar with code or website development, we recommend working with a professional to help you implement this feature.
-
Log in to your Squarespace account and go to the Settings panel.
-
Click Security, then click the CAPTCHA tab.
-
Paste your Site key and Secret key into the appropriate fields, then click Save.
That’s it! You’ve now added CAPTCHA to your Squarespace site.
