Can You Put a Component in a Component Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 9:29 pm

As you may know, Figma is a vector drawing and animation software that’s gaining popularity in the world of web and app design. One of its key features is the ability to create reusable components. This means that you can create an element once and then use it multiple times throughout your design, which can save you a lot of time and effort.

But what if you want to take things a step further and create a component that contains other components Can you do this in Figma

The answer is yes! You can put a component inside another component in Figma.

This can be useful if you want to create a more complex element that contains multiple smaller elements. For example, you could create a button component that contains an icon component and a text component. Or you could create a card component that contains an image component and a text component.

PRO TIP: If you try to put a component in a component in Figma, nothing will happen. The component will not be placed inside the other component.

To add a component inside another component, simply select the parent component and then click on the “Add Component” button in the toolbar. This will bring up the “Add Component” dialog, which will let you choose which child component to add. Simply select the desired child component from the list and click “OK”.

You can also add multiple child components to a parent component by holding down the Shift key while clicking on the “Add Component” button. This will bring up the “Add Multiple Components” dialog, which will let you choose how many child components to add. Simply enter the desired number of child components and click “OK”.

So there you have it! You can definitely put a component inside another component in Figma.

This can be useful for creating more complex elements or for reuse purposes. Give it a try and see how it works for your next project!
