Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool – the first interface design tool with real-time collaboration. It’s a great tool for working on web or app design projects. And, one of the best things about Figma is that it’s free to use!

If you’re working on a design project in Figma, you may need to cut part of an image. Here’s how to do it:

1. Select the Rectangle Tool

First, select the Rectangle Tool from the toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen. You can also use the shortcut key R on your keyboard.

2. Draw a rectangle around the area you want to cut

Next, draw a rectangle around the area of the image that you want to cut out. To do this, click and drag your mouse around the area.

PRO TIP: If you are unsure about how to cut part of an image in Figma, it is best to ask for help from a friend or colleague. Cutting images in Figma can be tricky, and if done incorrectly, you may end up with an unusable image.

3. Copy and paste the selected area

Once you’ve drawn your rectangle, press CMD + C (on a Mac) or CTRL + C (on Windows) to copy the selected area. Then, press CMD + V (on a Mac) or CTRL + V (on Windows) to paste it into a new layer.

4. Delete the original layer

Finally, delete the original layer that you copied the selection from. To do this, click on the layer and press CMD + D (on a Mac) or CTRL + D (on Windows).
