How do I enable DKIM on HostGator?

Last updated on December 19, 2022 @ 12:08 pm

DKIM is a technique that helps to protect the authenticity of email. When an email is sent, DKIM adds a signature to the message that can be used to verify that the email was sent from the source that is claimed.

By default, HostGator does not enable DKIM. To enable DKIM on HostGator, follow these steps:.

1. Go to the HostGator Control Panel and navigate to Email.

2. Under the Email Settings section, select the Email Signature option.

3. Click the Edit button next to the DKIM Signature field.

4. On the DKIM Signature Settings page, select the Enable DKIM check box and then click the Add button.

5. Enter the DKIM key that you want to use and then click the OK button.

6. Click the Close button to return to the Email Settings page.

7. Under the Email Signature section, click the Test Email button to send a test email with the DKIM signature.

8. If the test email is successful, click the Save Changes button to store the new settings.

9. To send an email with the DKIM signature, click the Send Email button and then enter the email address that you want to send the message to.

10. Select the DKIM Signature check box and then click the Add button.

11. Click the Send Email button and then enter the email address that you want to send the message to.

12. Click the Save Changes button to store the new settings.

13. The DKIM signature will be included in the email message that is sent.

PRO TIP: If you are not an experienced email administrator, we do not recommend that you enable DKIM on your HostGator account. DKIM is a complex system and if it is not configured correctly, it can cause emails from your account to be rejected by email servers. If you enable DKIM and your emails start getting rejected, you will need to contact HostGator support for assistance.
