Export a Prototype from Figma

If you have a prototype that you want to export from Figma, there are a few things you need to do first. In the Figma interface, select the prototype you want to export. In the preview pane on the right, select File > Export. In the Export dialog box, make sure the File format is set to Prototyping > HTML.

In the File name field, type the name of the file you want to create. (If you want to keep the prototype file in the same folder as the Figma file, enter the full path to the file.) Click Export.

PRO TIP: If you are looking to export a prototype from Figma, be aware that there are some potential risks involved. Exporting a prototype can allow others to access your design and potentially make changes to it without your knowledge or consent. Additionally, exporting a prototype can also make it easier for someone to steal your design. If you do choose to export a prototype from Figma, be sure to protect your design by password-protecting the file and only sharing it with trusted individuals.

In the resulting export file, you’ll see a series of HTML files. Each file corresponds to a different stage of the prototype. The first file, index.html, is the initial prototype. The next file, partials/_header.html, contains the header for the prototype. The next file, partials/_footer.html, contains the footer for the prototype.

The next file, partials/_menu.html, contains the menu for the prototype. The next file, partials/_content.html, contains the content for the prototype. The final file, index.html, contains the final prototype.

To view the prototype in a browser, you can copy the files from the export file and paste them into a web browser. (If you want to preview the prototype in Figma before exporting it, you can open the prototype in Figma and select File > Export Preview.).
