In order to get an SSL certificate from HostGator, you will need to first create a new account. Once you have created your account, you will need to select the “My Account” link in the top navigation bar. From there, you will need to click on the “Security” link. This will take you to a page where you can select the “SSL/TLS” option. From here, you will need to click on the “Create Certificate” button. This will take you to a page where you will need to provide some basic information about your business. You will also need to provide a valid certificate request URL. Once you have provided all of the required information, click on the “Create Certificate” button. You will then need to click on the “Download Certificate” button. This will take you to a page where you can download your newly created certificate. Once you have downloaded your certificate, you will need to extract the file.

PRO TIP: If you are attempting to get an SSL certificate from HostGator, be warned that their customer service is notoriously bad and you may have a difficult time getting the certificate that you need.

You will then need to open the file in a text editor such as Notepad. You will need to replace the “localhost” with the IP address of your HostGator server. You will also need to replace the “apache” with the name of your web server. You will then need to save the file. You will then need to upload the file to your HostGator server. You can do this by clicking on the “Upload Files” button in the “SSL/TLS” section of your My Account page. Once you have uploaded the file, you will need to click on the “Activate Certificate” button. This will activate your new SSL certificate. You will then need to click on the “Reload Pages” button in the “SSL/TLS” section of your My Account page. You will then need to reload the pages of your website.
