How do I add SSL to HostGator?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 7:12 pm

Adding SSL to HostGator is easy and can be done in just a few simple steps. First, log into your HostGator account and click on the “Servers” tab. Next, click on the “SSL” button next to your server name and select the “Create SSL Certificate” option. You will then be prompted to provide some information about your server, such as its name and IP address.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to add SSL to your HostGator account, please be aware that there are some potential risks involved.

First, if you do not properly set up SSL, it could leave your site vulnerable to attack. Make sure you understand how to set up SSL correctly before proceeding.

Second, once SSL is enabled, it cannot be disabled without causing significant disruptions to your website. Be sure you want to enable SSL before taking this step.

Next, you will need to provide your SSL certificate’s details, such as its name, serial number, and expiration date. Once you have completed these steps, your server will be configured to use SSL and visitors will be prompted to enter a secure password when they visit your site.
