How Do I Resize an Image in Canva?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 12:02 pm

There are many reasons you might need to resize an image. Maybe you’re creating a social media post and the site requires a specific size, or maybe you want to crop out part of the image. Whatever the reason, it’s easy to do in Canva.

First, open Canva and sign in. Then, click on “Create a design,” and select “Use custom dimensions.”

Enter the width and height you need for your image, then click “Create New Design.” Your blank canvas will open up with those dimensions.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to resize an image in Canva, be aware that there is no Undo button. Once you have resized an image, you cannot go back to the original version. Make sure you are happy with the new size before saving your changes.

Next, upload your image by clicking on the “Uploads” tab in the toolbar on the left. Find your image, then click “Open.”

Your image will appear on the canvas. To resize it, click on it once to select it, then click and drag one of the corner handles. As you do this, you’ll see the width and height change in the top toolbar.

When you have the image resized how you want it, click on the “File” menu in the top toolbar and select “Download.” Choose your file type (PNG or JPG), then click “Export.” Your image will download to your computer, ready to use!
