How Do I Verify My Domain on Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 1:29 pm

There are a few ways to verify your domain on Shopify. The first is to add a DNS record to your domain’s DNS settings. The second is to upload an HTML file to your website’s root directory.

To add a DNS record, you’ll need to log in to your domain registrar’s account and add a TXT record. The TXT record should have the following value:

shopify-domain-verification=yourdomain.myShopify.com

Be sure to replace “yourdomain” with your actual domain name. Once you’ve added the TXT record, wait a few hours for the changes to propagate, then head back over to your Shopify admin and click the Verify button.

If you don’t want to add a DNS record, you can verify your domain by uploading an HTML file. To do this, create a new file in a text editor and save it as verify-my-domain.html. The contents of the file should be as follows:

Verifying My Domain

Replace “yourdomain” with your actual domain name, then save the file and upload it to your website’s root directory. Once it’s been uploaded, head back over to your Shopify admin and click the Verify button.

Conclusion:

Verifying your domain on Shopify is simple and only takes a few minutes. By either adding a DNS record or uploading an HTML file, you can ensure that your domain is correctly connected to your Shopify store.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to verify your domain on Shopify, be aware that there are some risks involved.

First and foremost, if you do not have a professional email address associated with your domain, you may not be able to verify it. This could lead to your store being suspended or even banned from Shopify.

Secondly, if you do not have a valid SSL certificate for your domain, you will not be able to use Shopify’s payment gateway. This means that any transactions made on your store will not be secure and could be susceptible to fraud.

Lastly, if you are using a free trial of Shopify, you will only be able to verify one domain. If you try to verify more than one domain, your account will be automatically cancelled.

So, while verifying your domain on Shopify can be a great way to get started with your online store, make sure that you are aware of the risks involved before proceeding.
