How Do You Color in Figma?

Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool – the company bills it as “the first interface design tool with real-time collaboration”. It’s available for macOS, Windows and Linux, and has a web app too. As well as being used by individuals, Figma is popular with startups and design agencies; in October 2018 the company announced that it had more than 1 million monthly active users.

Figma has a growing number of features, but one of its most basic and most-used is the ability to color shapes. Here’s how to do it.

First, select the object or objects you want to color. You can do this by clicking on them or by lassoing them with the mouse. Once they’re selected, click on the “Fill” icon in the toolbar (it’s the one that looks like a paint bucket).

PRO TIP: Figma is a great tool for designing websites, but be careful when you’re coloring in your designs. The fill tool doesn’t always work the way you expect it to, and you can end up with strange results if you’re not careful.

This will open up the fill panel on the right-hand side of the screen. From here you can choose a color for your selected object or objects from a palette, or enter a hex code or RGB value for a specific color. You can also choose to have no fill at all.

Once you’ve chosen your color, make sure that the “Blend” mode is set to “Normal” and then click on the “Apply” button. Your object or objects should now be filled with your chosen color.

Conclusion:

To color in Figma, first select your object or objects, then click on Fill in the toolbar. Choose your color from the palette or enter a hex code or RGB value. Finally, click Apply.
