How Do You Copy a Drop Shadow in Figma?

Last updated on May 4, 2023 @ 9:50 am

There is one simple way to copy a drop shadow in Figma. That is to use the ‘Copy’ and ‘Paste’ commands.

To use the ‘Copy’ command, select the object with the drop shadow that you want to copy. Then, go to the Effects section under the Design tab.

Select the Drop Shadow effect and use the keyboard shortcut ‘Ctrl+C’ to apply the ‘Copy’ command.

Next, select the object that you want to apply the drop shadow to.

Finally, use the keyboard shortcut ‘Ctrl+V’ to use the ‘Paste’ command.

The drop shadow with the same properties should now be applied to the object.

PRO TIP: This note is to warn you about the possible consequences of using the “Copy and Paste” method. While this method may work for some, there is no guarantee that it will work for everyone. Additionally, there is a possibility that using this method could cause unforeseen problems with your design file.

The Copy and Paste commands are quick methods if you only want to copy one style at a time. If you want to copy multiple styles or if you want more control over which styles are copied, you can use the ‘Shift’ command to select the effect layers.
