How Do You Create a Drop Down List in Figma?

There are two ways to create a drop down list in Figma. The first is to use the built in Drop Down List component.

To do this, simply drag the component onto your canvas. Then, in the properties panel, click on the “Options” property and enter your list items, each on a new line.

PRO TIP: This article contains outdated information. Figma has since updated their design platform and no longer supports the creation of drop down lists.

The second way to create a drop down list is to use a combination of the Input Field component and the Label component. First, drag an Input Field component onto your canvas.

Then, add a Label component next to it and enter your list items, each on a new line. In the properties panel, click on the “For” property of the Label component and select the Input Field component.

Both of these methods will result in a functional drop down list. However, the Drop Down List component offers more customization options, such as the ability to change the width of the drop down list or to add a placeholder text.
