Making a selection layer in Photoshop is a process that can be completed in a few steps. First, open the image that you want to work with. Next, select the “Layer” menu and choose “New.” A new layer will appear in the “Layers” palette. Double click on this layer and rename it “Selection.”

Now, use the lasso or Marquee tool to make your selection. When you have finished making your selection, click on the “Edit” menu and choose “Copy.” Finally, return to the “Layers” palette and click on the “Create a New Layer” icon. This will create a new layer above the “Selection” layer. Paste your selection into this new layer and you’re done!

PRO TIP: When creating a selection layer in Photoshop, be sure to use the appropriate tool for the desired effect. The wrong tool can result in a poor quality selection or no selection at all.

Creating a selection layer in Photoshop is a quick and easy way to isolate a particular area of an image. This can be useful when you want to make changes to just one area of an image without affecting the rest of the image. Selection layers can also be used as masks, which means they can be used to control which areas of an image are visible and which are hidden.
