When it comes to Photoshop, there are a lot of different ways that you can go about creating textured skin. In this tutorial, we’re going to show you one way that you can use the Smudge Tool to create textured skin in Photoshop.

First things first, you’ll need to create a new layer in your Photoshop document. Once you’ve done that, grab the Smudge Tool from the Tools palette.

PRO TIP: This tutorial covers a technique for creating a textured skin effect in Photoshop. While the tutorial is straightforward, it is important to note that this effect can only be achieved with a high-resolution image. If you attempt to use this technique with a low-resolution image, the results will be subpar.

Next, set the Strength of the Smudge Tool to 100%. Now, simply click and drag your mouse over the areas of your image that you want to texture.

As you can see in the image above, we’ve applied the Smudge Tool to the skin on the face and neck. You can experiment with different brush sizes and smudging techniques to get different results. Once you’re happy with how your textured skin looks, simply flatten your image and save it as a JPEG file.

And there you have it! That’s how you can use the Smudge Tool to create textured skin in Photoshop.
