When you’re working on a design in Figma, you may need to place multiple objects in the same exact spot. Maybe you’re working on a grid, and you want to line up a bunch of elements. Or maybe you’re designing a button, and you want to duplicate it a few times but keep everything perfectly aligned.

Luckily, Figma has a handy tool for this called “Paste in Place.”

To use Paste in Place, simply copy the object (or objects) you want to duplicate. Then, click on the spot where you want to paste the object (or objects). Finally, use the shortcut key Cmd + Shift + V (on a Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + V (on Windows).

Paste in Place is especially useful when you’re working with grids. For example, let’s say you have a three-column grid, and you want to add an element to the second column.

First, you would copy the element. Then, you would click somewhere in the second column. Finally, you would use the Paste in Place shortcut key to paste the element exactly where you clicked.

You can also use Paste in Place to style text. Simply select the text you want to style, copy it, click where you want to paste it, and then use the shortcut key.
