How Does Resize Work in Canva?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 7:05 pm

When you resize an image in Canva, you’re actually changing the dimensions of the image file. The file itself stays the same, but the number of pixels in it is changed. This affects how large or small the image appears on screen.

When you make an image smaller, the number of pixels in it is reduced. This means that when it’s displayed on screen, it will appear blurry and pixelated.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, resizing in Canva can result in low-quality images. Make sure to check the image quality before you finalize your design.

Making an image larger doesn’t improve its quality, because you’re just stretching the existing pixels to make them bigger. So if you start with a low-quality image, making it larger will just make it look even worse.

The best way to resize an image is to start with a high-quality original version, then resize it down to the size you need. This way, you’ll end up with a crisp, clear image that looks great no matter how large or small it is.
