Last updated on November 22, 2022 @ 4:17 pm

As of Photoshop CC 2019 (version 20.0.8), there is no longer a Vector Brush tool. This tool was removed in order to streamline thebrush toolset.

The Vector Brush tool was used to create vector illustrations within Photoshop. However, you can still create vector illustrations in Photoshop by using the Pen tool.

To create a vector illustration in Photoshop:

  1. Select the Pen tool from the toolbar.
  2. Click on the image where you want to start drawing your vector shape.
  3. Drag the mouse to draw your vector shape. You can add anchor points by clicking on the image.
  4. To finish drawing your vector shape, click on the first anchor point that you created.

Your vector shape will now be saved as a path. To turn this path into a vector shape, simply click on the “Make Work Path from Selection” button in the options bar.

PRO TIP: Some Photoshop users may be confused when they search for a “vector brush” because Photoshop doesn’t have one. However, there are ways to create the appearance of a vector brush in Photoshop.

Conclusion:

So, while there is no longer a Vector Brush tool in Photoshop, you can still create vector illustrations by using the Pen tool. This process is actually quite simple and only requires a few steps to complete.
