It’s hiding in plain sight!

You might be looking for the selection tool in Photoshop and not even realize it. The selection tool is actually hidden in plain sight!

To find the selection tool, simply click on the “Select” drop-down menu at the top of the Photoshop workspace. From there, you can choose from a variety of selection tools, including the Rectangular Marquee Tool, Elliptical Marquee Tool, Lasso Tool, and Polygonal Lasso Tool.

PRO TIP: Where Is the Selection Tool in Photoshop?

The selection tool is not where you think it is. It’s actually in the toolbar on the left side of the screen. If you’re not seeing it, make sure that you’re in the right workspace by clicking the workspace icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Once you’ve selected a tool, you can use it to make a selection on your image. For example, if you want to select a specific area of an image to edit, you would use one of the selection tools to draw a marquee around that area.
