Can I Cancel Shopify and Get Refund?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 2:24 pm

It’s no secret that Shopify is one of the most popular ecommerce platforms on the market. And it’s also no secret that starting an online store can be a bit of an investment. So, if you’re thinking about starting a Shopify store, you might be wondering “Can I cancel Shopify and get a refund?”

Here’s what you need to know about cancelling your Shopify account and getting a refund:

How to Cancel Your Shopify Account

If you decide that you no longer want to use Shopify, cancelling your account is actually pretty easy to do. Simply log into your Shopify account and go to the ‘Billing’ section.

From there, you’ll see a ‘Cancel your account’ link at the bottom of the page. Clicking on that will take you through the steps to cancel your account.

How Much Time do You Have to Cancel?

If you decide to cancel your Shopify account within the first 30 days, then you are eligible for a full refund. If you cancel after the first 30 days, then you will not be eligible for a refund.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about cancelling your Shopify account, be aware that you will not be automatically refunded for any unused time on your subscription. You will need to contact Shopify customer support to request a refund.

However, it’s important to note that even if you cancel after the first 30 days, you will still have access to your account until the end of your billing cycle. So, if you cancel on May 15th, for example, you will still have access to your account and all of its features until June 14th.

What if You Signed Up for a Yearly Plan?

If you signed up for a yearly plan, then things are a little bit different. With a yearly plan, you do not get a refund if you cancel within the first year.

However, if you cancel after the first year, you will be refunded for any months that remain on your plan. So, if you signed up for a 12-month plan and cancelled on month 10, you would receive a refund for the remaining two months.

Conclusion
In short, yes – you can cancel Shopify and receive a refund within the first 30 days of using the platform. After that period of time has elapsed though, refunds are no longer available.
