How do I trace an image in Illustrator?

In Illustrator, you can trace an image using the Trace Bitmap command. The command has three main steps: 1) Select the image you want to trace. 2) Click the Trace Bitmap command from the Tools panel. 3) In the Trace Bitmap dialog box, select the source image file and the destination image file.

PRO TIP: When tracing an image in Adobe Illustrator, it is important to use the correct settings to avoid losing quality in the image. The default settings for tracing are often too aggressive, resulting in a loss of detail and aliasing (jagged edges). It is recommended to use the following settings:

– Mode: Black and white
– Threshold: 50-70%
– Ignore white: unchecked

Using these settings will result in a much higher quality image, with less jagged edges.

The source image is the image you want to trace, and the destination image is the image where the tracing will be done. The tracing will start at the source image’s top-left corner and will move down and to the right. You can control the tracing’s size and shape by changing the tracing’s start and end points, as well as its width and height.
