How Do I Clear the Cache in Photoshop?

If you’re anything like me, you probably have Photoshop open all the time. And if you’re anything like me, you also probably have a ton of stuff saved in your Photoshop cache.

Over time, this can really start to slow down your computer. So how do you clear the cache in Photoshop?

The first thing you need to do is open up the Preferences dialog box. You can do this by going to Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences (Mac).

Once you’re in the Preferences dialog box, go to the Performance tab. In the Performance tab, you’ll see an option for “Cache Levels.”

The default setting is 4, but I recommend bumping it up to 8. This will help improve the performance of Photoshop.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop or do not have experience clearing the cache, it is best to not attempt this. Clearing the cache can delete important data and files that are necessary for Photoshop to function properly.

The next thing you need to do is go to the “Type” tab. In the Type tab, you’ll see an option for “Use Smart Quotes.”

I recommend turning this off. Smart Quotes can really slow down Photoshop, and they’re not really necessary.

The last thing you need to do is go to the “File Handling” tab. In the File Handling tab, you’ll see an option for “Cache Level.”

I recommend setting this to 8 as well.

Once you’ve made these changes, restart Photoshop and see how it runs. Hopefully, you’ll see a significant improvement in performance.

Conclusion: How Do I Clear the Cache in Photoshop?

By following the steps outlined above, you can clear the cache in Photoshop and improve its performance.
