How Do I Select and Move an Object in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:31 pm

Selecting and moving an object in Photoshop is a fairly simple process, but there are a few things to keep in mind when doing so. First, you’ll need to make sure that the object you want to move is selected.

To do this, click on the object with the Move tool selected. If the object is not already selected, you can also use the Select tool to select it.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, please be aware that selecting and moving an object can be a difficult task. If you are not careful, you may end up with an object that is not in the correct location or that looks distorted.

Once the object is selected, you can move it by clicking and dragging it with the Move tool. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge the object in small increments.

If you need to move the object more precisely, you can use the grid or rulers to help guide you. To do this, simply click and drag on the ruler or grid lines to move them around.

Once you’re happy with the new position of the object, you can release the mouse button or let go of the arrow keys. The object will stay in its new position until you move it again.
