How do you skew text in Illustrator?

Last updated on December 1, 2022 @ 9:09 am

When working with text in Illustrator, it is important to be aware of how text can be skewed to create the desired effect. There are a number of ways to skew text, and each has its own benefits and drawbacks.

The most common way to skew text is to use the Transform tool. By default, the Transform tool is located in the top left corner of the Illustrator workspace, inside the “Object” option. There, select “Shear” from the Transform tool options.

NOTE: Make sure to select the text you want to skew first, before proceeding to the Transform tool.

In the pop-up window that will appear, adjust the “Shear Angle” to your preference. If you want your text to lean on the left, set the angle to a negative degree.

To make the text lean on the right side, set the angle to a positive degree. Once done, click on the “OK” button.

PRO TIP: Skewing text in Illustrator can result in unpredictable and undesirable results. Use caution when skewing text, and consider using other methods to achieve the desired effect.

When skewing text, it is important to be aware of the following:

  • Skewing text can change the meaning of the text.
  • Skewing text can change the appearance of the text.
  • Skewing text can change the layout of the text.

When skewing text, it is also important to be aware of the following:

  • Skewing text can be difficult to control.
  • Skewing text can be difficult to see.
  • Skewing text can be difficult to edit.
  • Skewing text can be difficult to read.

When skewing text, it is important to weigh the benefits and drawbacks of each method before choosing which to use.
